Choirs and concerts in Florence.
In a magical Christmas atmosphere, music enters the most beautiful churches in Florence. On December 10th and 15th two concerts not to be missed with free admission.

The unique atmosphere of pre-Christmas Florence is enhanced by two unique events. One of the most beautiful churches in Florence will open its doors to music for concerts and choirs that will feature the majors groups arriving from the other side of the world.

Unique concerts in unique locations. The splendid church of Santo Stefano al Ponte Vecchio, very close to Ponte Vecchio, is a jewel to discover and rediscover. The church is one of the oldest in Florence, documented as early as 1116 in the first list of Florentine churches known, and over the centuries enriched with numerous interventions that make it nowadays original in its architecture.

The church of Santo Stefano al Ponte is located in the small Santo Stefano square a few steps from the Ponte Vecchio. Free admission.

St Aloysius’ College that is bringing its music tour from all over Europe. A culture deeply connected in the traditions of the school “About two-thirds of our students learn a musical instrument and the level of participation in musical performances is such that it attracts an increase constantly the number of students”. St Aloysius’ College in Sydney with 1,200 students is today the most important Catholic school in the country.

Cranbrook & St Catherine’s ensemble will bring a selection of students from two Anglican schools in Sydney to the stage on December 15th. The special ensemble, gathered for the occasion, will perform its particular repertoire that ranges between the sacred and the profane.

Riparte la stagione dei concerti: la musica entra nelle più belle chiese di Firenze!
Per tutto giugno un ricco programma di eventi ad ingresso gratuito.
L’estate fiorentina si arricchisce di un ciclo di eventi da non perdere. Alcune delle più belle chiese di Firenze apriranno le loro porte alla musica con concerti e cori che vedranno protagonisti acclamati gruppi d’oltreoceano. Tra questi Randall Stroope, il celebre compositore e direttore di coro statunitense sarà il 25 giugno a Firenze, che vanta la pubblicazione di oltre 160 partiture e con oltre 200.000 copie dei suoi lavori vendute (info: http://www.zrstroope.com).
Chiusura in bellezza il 26 giugno con gospel e spirituals della tradizione afro-americana.
Concerti unici in location uniche. La splendida chiesa di Santo Spirito, che non ha certo bisogno di presentazioni, ma anche St. Mark’s la chiesa anglicana di via Maggio, un piccolo gioiello nascosto in un palazzo che si ritiene sia stato di Machiavelli e la chiesa di S.Felicita, una delle più antiche della città, di origine romana, in seguito modificata e collegata col Corridoio Vasariano: i granduchi prima dei Medici e poi dei Lorena usavano un apposito passaggio per assistere alle funzioni religiose senza dover scendere nell’aula.

Il TFS Senior Wind Ensemble delle scuola internazionale TFS Canada arriva a Firenze con Direttore Rupert Price per un doppio concerto.

Appuntamento lunedì 13 marzo alle 20.30 all’Auditorium di Santo Stefano al Ponte Vecchio, in piazza di Santo Stefano 1, a due passi da Ponte Vecchio.
Concerto alle 20.30, ad ingresso libero.

Mercoledì 15 marzo un secondo appuntamento con lo speciale evento alle 12 presso la St. Mark English Church di via Maggio 16.

Due eventi imperdibili, entrambi in due bellissime location di Firenze e entrambi ad ingresso libero.

Il talentuoso complesso musicale giovanile suonerà inni classici oltre a canzoni pop e brani tratti delle più importanti colonne sonore.

The TFS Senior Wind Ensemble is an advanced ensemble of musicians from multiple high school age groups. The ensemble represents Canada’s International School and international music making at a high level of performance. For a number of years the Senior Wind Ensemble has represented the school on the National stage and even received a gold award for their outstanding performance at Musicfest Canada National Finals in Canada’s Capital Ottawa. The TFS Senior Wind Ensemble has above all, an international outlook, embracing cultures and musical styles through a philosophy of transcending borders in music as an all embracing art form.

The TFS Senior Wind Ensemble is directed by Rupert Price, a graduate from the Royal College of Music in London and former trombonist with Her Majesty’s Grenadier Guards band and internationally renowned orchestras such as the London Philharmonic and the BBC Concert orchestra. Rupert now lives in Toronto Canada and holds the principal trombone position with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra and the Ontario Philharmonic. Rupert Price also is the curriculum leader for music with TFS Canada’s International School, where it is his passion to instil the love of music in all of his students while fostering their progressive level of excellence and development of the all-round musician and world citizen.

The young musicians will present an eclectic and deeply varied repertoire from sacred to secular with a multitude of styles and eras of high quality music including some excellent Italian musical favourites!

The group will give two free performances in Florence:
– on 13 March at 20h30 at the Auditorium Santo Stefano Al Ponte Vecchio
– on 15 March at 12h00 at St Mark’s English Church
